About Us
This space was created as an extension of the work my great-grandparents offered. I come from a family of herbalists and, as the story goes, my great grandmother and grandfather were both herbalists (“Root Workers”). They supported their family and community through their knowledge of plant medicine. This was passed down to my grandmother, who shared that once our community gained more access to formalized medicine, the need for herbalism decreased. This, however, did not stop the remedies from flowing. Whenever a baby was sick, they were offered “pot liquor” or “horehound candies” to get well. When someone has a tooth ache, clove oil was offered to help the pain subside. All of these things were ways that we continued caring for and honoring ourselves and one another.
As a community herbalist, I see my role as one that did not begin with me, and is instead a continuation of the knowledge, spirit, and strength of my ancestors. I am, because they were. This is apparent in the type of work that we offer at Foraging Wellness. We recognize that to honor the culmination of intergenerational wisdom (that exists in all of us) is to honor the expansiveness of our very own existence. It is from here, we are able to heal, grieve, hope, and thrive.
Mission: To cultivate intentional healing communities through offering a fusion of herbalism and mental health services that address our spiritual, mental, and physical needs.
Vision: We can heal, as we are, where we are, with what we have. Through observing, learning, and sharing with one another- human and plant allies alike - we will be able to cultivate the kind of life we desire.
